Tasting Notes

Pure, elegant red in colour, with wildly complex aromatics. Rhubarb and saline minerality sit alongside lifted florals and cool fruit, all carried by a savoury undercurrent. A wine that sums up the Tyrrell's red house style in an excellent vintage.

Product Highlights

Vat 9 is Tyrrell's flagship red blend, drawn from four of the estate's best parcels, including vines planted back in 1921. It's a wine built on old-vine complexity rather than any single vineyard's character, fermented in open-top vats and matured in French oak before the final blend comes together.

2024 was one of the earliest, driest vintages on record in the Hunter Valley, and it shows: this is a full, intensely flavoured Shiraz with real length. Rhubarb, saline minerality and cool dark fruit make it a genuine expression of the Tyrrell's red house style, backed by 95 points from The Wine Front.
