Fair value
"Good drinking entry level Pinot, but not rushing to buy more this time."
Last year, this wine hit 98 points. Not once - three vintages in a row. And the two releases before this? Named the #1 Wine of the World, then the following year the #4 Best Value. So naturally, all eyes are on what comes next.
The latest release of Terra Sancta’s Mysterious Diggings Pinot Noir has landed, and while the new scores haven’t dropped yet, that just means you’re early. What we do know is this: it comes from one of the most prized sites in Central Otago, planted high in Bannockburn on schist-heavy soils, with old vines digging deep and delivering year after year.
Long days, cold nights, free-draining ground. Felton Road and Burn Cottage are right nearby. This is Pinot heaven, and Terra Sancta has a track record that’s getting harder and harder to ignore.
We’ve had a look at the new release, and honestly, it might be the best one yet. 2025 is being praised as an excellent vintage in Otago, and this wine captures that beautifully. Bright, lifted aromatics of violet and rose lead into raspberry, red cherry and a touch of spice. On the palate, it’s layered and flowing, with vibrant red fruit, a little blue fruit underneath, silky tannins and a long, fresh finish.
It’s expressive, balanced and already drinking beautifully. If the last few vintages are anything to go by, this won’t stay quiet for long.

"This is a very quaffable Pinot from Central Otago. We have bought it numerous times over the years and have never been disappointed. You can’t go wrong."
