Forest Hill Vineyard Estate Shiraz 2024

A blend of Shiraz from Frankland River, Porongurup and Mount Barker, with a small Malbec component (3%); the estate's own Forest Hill Shiraz vines were lost to frost in 2024. Harvested 5–22 April, grapes were hand-picked and selectively harvested, then destemmed into open fermenters with a high proportion of whole berries, pumped over or hand-plunged twice daily, then pressed to Burgundian oak (500–600L) and oak foudre (2500–3000L) after primary fermentation, blended and bottled after 12 months. The 2024 season had an early budburst and strong spring shoot growth after a wet winter, though a significant late-October frost caused damage in many blocks; a dry, hot summer led to one of the earliest seasons on record. Alcohol is 14%.
