Once again, this is a blend of all estate varieties – grenache, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and chenin blanc – but it is noticeably different to the two other iterations. Evolution. And good for it. The cabernet sinks into the background this time, letting the red fruits take the stage – cranberry, wild raspberry, sour cherry. It’s textural, and with remarkable intensity for the freshness. On the palate, flavours of poached pear, red florals, dried Mediterranean herbs and subtle souk spices enter the picture. The finish is chewy, sapid and long, with older oak and mlf adding complexity. Oh, and the colour, a classically pale rose gold. A serious rosé as it warms a little, but also just a charming drink at a brisk temperature.

The double MM of MMAD has me in mind of the immortal words of Simple Jack, you “M-M-M-make me happy”. M-M-M-mad rosé m-m-m-made up of grenache, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and chenin blanc. A pale and dry style. Raspberry, cranberry, mandarin, a little sweet spice, some vanilla cream, a touch of jalapeno and white pepper. It feels a bit watery in texture, but you could also say easy drinking and refreshing due to that. A nice touch of grip and chalkiness to finish, so too just a squiggle of lemony, sherbetty acidity poking out. It’s pleasing enough in its elementary way.

The 2025 Blewitt Springs Rosé is a field blend of the varieties planted in this vineyard in Blewitt Springs—Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc, and a little bit of each of them is evident in the glass. It has apricot blossom, green apple and pressed linen from the Chenin Blanc; an attractive, juicy red berry note from the Grenache; some mid-palate volume from the Shiraz; and the tannic structure (which can never quite be fully concealed) of the Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an interesting little wine here. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
