Tasting Notes

The Chardonnay is from low-yielding Gin Gin vines that are now over 20 years old. Painstakingly converted them to cane pruning (from the established spur pruning). The parcels were hand-harvested, foot stomped and naturally fermented in a mix of concrete egg (20%) and old barrels (80%). It only received a rough filtering to, keep the wine as close to the vineyard as possible. Fresh, crisp, organic Chardonnay.

Product Highlights

What if Margaret River was made like a Premier Cru Burgundy flagship?

You get this impeccable new release from Two Brothers.

We told Two Brothers winemaker Ben Gould - the young gun behind Margaret RIver's famed Blind Corner - not to hold back.

And he didn’t.

Single block Gin Gin clones.
Low cropped to three tonnes per hectare.
Hand picked.
Wild ferment.
Seasoned French oak.
Time in concrete egg.

These are the kind of details you usually see in Premier Cru white Burgundy.

Site first. Texture. Structure. No shortcuts.

Except this isn’t Meursault. It’s Margaret River.

Our tasting panel gave it 95 points. No sympathy scores here.

Expect a creamy, nutty, mineral-driven Chardonnay. Plenty of richness for lovers of texture. Enough finesse to impress serious Burgundy fans too.

This is Margaret River, turned up to eleven.

Overall rating: 4.125 / 5 from 8 reviews.

Good value chardonnay but that's all for now

"The hype that lured me to order a dozen of this wine was classic, breathless TWS sales-pitch. It is a good wine especially for the price ($18) and the blurb that hinted Meursault and Premier Cru was framed with plausible deniability. Yes, it is very young, yes it has structure, but when you bring up Meursault 1er Cru , you are teasing palates that cannot get that Chateau de Meursault 1995 out of their head. An altogether unfair comparison. I do not regret the order but let's get real here."
