What a beautiful example of Eden Valley Riesling is this estate Pewsey Vale wine. The nose is intense lemon with a minerally bath salts character, while the palate has that lemon rind edginess, balancing the deeply intense, linear and focused fruit that emerges from this high-altitude block. It retains a degree of tension with a slightly talcy character, and the finish is long and fine. Excellent wine.

The 2025 Single Vineyard Estate Riesling is precise, esthery and aromatic, with notes of crushed shells, white flowers, pressed linen, white pear and green apple. In the mouth, the wine is persistent and smooth, with saline acidity that is woven throughout every aspect of the palate. This is a gorgeous wine, as ever. 11.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Riesling sourced from a single vineyard way up around 490m elevation in Pewsey Vale. Classic Eden Valley characters from woe to go. Fresh limes, Christmas lily, citrus blossom, crushed stone, lemongrass, Bickford's lime cordial and ozone. Dry, precise and thirst-slakingly good drinking. Super stuff; we all need a bottle of this close at hand when the weather warms up.

It’s clear Riesling is an obsession with the entire range of Pewsey Valley Riesling being of the highest quality and astonishingly economical pricing. Case in point is this sub $30 estate wine that unfolds with the crispness of fresh A4 paper. Baby’s breath, apple blossoms and lime skin. Its driving acidity unravels over time, making for a wine that doesn’t feel sharp or shrill. There is a reason we say Jesus drank Riesling it’s pure, fine and ethereal. I feel more angelic already. Drink with sliced cucumber and a goats cheese dip. Or cellar for another 10-12 years.

Traditional stuff. Easy drinking, crisp and fresh, limey, juicy, a little skittish with saline minerality, but you’d generally say ‘textural and pleasing’ as a glancing approach. Diving in deeper, a touch soapy and mouth-perfume floral, similarly yeasty-floral to sniff on; that being said, a big chill, a crisp-edged glass, a bucket of prawns or some har gow and you’d be all good.
