Changes aplenty at TarraWarra beginning with the smart, new labels. Of even more significance was the appointment of Sarah Fagan in '23 as winemaker. Sarah, who, after almost twenty years at de Bortoli, has hit the ground running with a drop-dead gorgeous pinot noir rosé. A perfect, bright, pale copper pink, this was whole-bunch pressed, resulting in a delicate, perfumed wine with aromas of white strawberries and lavender. The palate is simultaneously delicate and flavoursome, finishing with just the right amount of grip on the balanced finish. Hats off.

Exciting times at TarrawarraEstate with the wines, under the expert care of Sarah Fagan, on the rapid improve. This release is incredibly pale in colour; it’s so much paler than previously releases. Outside of the colour the first thing I noticed was the excellent extension of the finish. This wine feels delicate and strawberried, and spicy, with apple and smoky graphite-like notes pushing through, but it’s the energy of the finish that is the thing. This is Sarah Fagan’s first go-to-whoa, growing-to-making-to-bottling wine, and it’s a rosé that you want to guzzle.
