We can tell you that the inspiration behind the label and the name comes from a migratory bird that visits the vineyards annually from the northern hemisphere - something of a reminder of the tenacity and commitment that is required for long term viticulture.

It’s from the 2022 vintage, which many winemakers are hailing a better vintage than the lauded one a year before. Wines from this estate always over-deliver beyond their humble price point, and the 2021 vintage of this Riesling scored 95 points from Halliday. We think this one might be on track to get the same, if not higher.

This is a mouthwatering example of Riesling from SA. Lively citrus, perfumed florals and gentle talc aromas jump from the glass, showing true Eden Valley characters. Fresh cut lime, fragrant lemongrass and a fine minerality are highlights of the palate, which also has a beautiful, long acid drive. The result is finely balanced wine with precision, perfume, and a delicious core of mouth-watering fruit.
