Tasting Notes

A fragrant and spicy Coonawarra red with aromas of star anise, blackcurrant, cherry and florals. The palate is plush and lively, showing aniseed jubes, pink peppercorn, dark berries and a velvety texture. It is bright, expressive and lightly savoury, with enough depth to keep things interesting.

Product Highlights

This is Coonawarra, but not as you may know it. This Field Blend brings together Cabernet, Merlot and Cabernet Franc in equal parts, creating a red that is less about one variety and more about the vineyard itself.

It is fragrant, juicy and gently spicy, with blackcurrant, cherry, aniseed and pink peppercorn notes wrapped in a smooth, velvety frame. Whole bunch fermentation adds lift and perfume, while whole berry fermentation gives the wine depth and flavour.

This is for you if you like reds with freshness, character and a bit of swagger. Serve it with charcuterie, roast lamb, mushroom dishes, or as the famed former James Halliday winemaker of the year puts it, late nights and “one more glass”.
