Tasting Notes

The low cropping 2021 vintage provided grapes of immense concentration and phenolic ripeness. Exotic aromas of sandalwood, amaro, anise and cranberry evolve in the glass. The palate is supple and lithe with cherry, damson plum and rosehip woven seamlessly together by the finest thread of mineral acidity that has become the hallmark of our finest Pinot Noirs.

Product Highlights

Gold medal winner at both the Decanter World Wine Awards and the National Wine Show, the 2023 Lowestoft Estate Pinot Noir is one of the most powerful expressions we’ve seen from this vineyard. Sourced from 75% Lowestoft Vineyard and 25% Tasman Peninsula, it’s a wine of intensity and finesse.

Bright, lifted aromatics of fresh raspberry, cranberry, wild strawberry and rooibos tea lead the way, with a zippy lift of pink pepper and brambly spice. Hand-picked and fermented in small open-top fermenters, it sees a modest 17.5% whole bunch and no additions throughout fermentation. The wine was gently worked for 18 days on skins before maturing in 500L French oak puncheons (20% new) for 10 months.

Concentrated yet supple, the palate reveals layers of cherry, damson plum and rosehip, laced with sandalwood, amaro and anise. A fine mineral acidity runs through the finish, bringing tension and length to this fine crafted Pinot.
