Set eyes on one of the Margaret River's top-draw boutique producers; with their absolute barnstorming Reserve Chardonnay.

Yields are low. Production is tiny. And access is near-impossible to get, given they are often only producing in less than 100 case lots each vintage.

The source here is the legendary Wildberry Springs Vineyard, showcasing a Chardonnay that's bursting with stone fruit, zesty lemon curd, and a subtle savoury edge from perfectly handled oak. Ray Jordan for Wine Pilot called it “immensely powerful with a refined, bright finish”, while Shanteh Wale for Wine Pilot loved its "Meyer lemon, white peach, and crushed almond" vibes, balanced by electric acidity.

Campbell Mattinson for Halliday praised its bold grapefruit and custard apple notes, describing it as “characterful and intense”, and Angus Hughson called it “the complete package” with creamy texture, tangy acidity, and grilled almonds in the finish.

The standard Triptych is a terrific Chardonnay, but this baby takes it to another level. Like all the Hutton wines I have seen, there is immense power. This is now an exception, but it delivers a refined linear structure at this level. Yet another wine from the Wildberry Springs Vineyard, showing the intensity and fruit concentration that has made it such an important vineyard in the region. Stone fruit and savoury lemon curd aromas merge. There is some winemaking influence on the palate, but it’s been finessed so the slightly struck match savoury characters sit comfortably. There is a bright vitality on the finish with lip-smacking minerality.

Lemon meringue pie, Meyer lemon and golden baked apples. School toffees, vanilla bean ice cream and gardenia blooms. You’ll also find the subtle elegance of white peaches, elderflower and unwashed pine wood. A salt spray salinity with electric acidity that draws out the flavour length of the wine. It’s nervy but still fleshy and giving. Crushed almonds and shaved ginger. A joy of a wine that brings together perfectly picked Chardonnay fruit with deftly handled oak. It’s drinking well now but will go the distance, say 4-6 years further with careful cellaring. A wine that can definitely be drunk on its own but also beautiful with potato gratin or a creamy based pasta

There’s a general tautness to this wine but the flavours have enough room to breathe and to expand; it’s an impressive Margaret River chardonnay, characterful and intense at once
