Planted in 2017, “Kids Cabernet” block, right behind the winery, not far from the Old Bastard. 120 dozen. Elegance in liquid form. It’s the Cabernet’s DNA and quality oak marriage perfection. The minty-creamy filling in dark chocolate, notes of new leather, cassis perfume, cherry wood smoke, raspberry and boysenberry in the mix, along with hints of vanilla in the back palate. Complete composition, all very well measured and elegant, fine-boned, smooth, with long ropes of fine ebony tannins. Flavour is kept in line with the acidity and coolness of fruit, and it feels smooth and soft yet firm and strongly built underneath. Finishing effortlessly already, but will age very well too.

Ray Jordan - Winepilot

A Barossa Cabernet that provides compelling evidence that this is a variety that can sometimes be overlooked in this great Shiraz region. The aroma is typically blackcurrant with a subtle bay leaf and dark chocolate infusion. Intense and concentrated palate delivers with refined understatement. Fine chalky tannins and fine-grained oak provide a harmonious textural finish.  Elegance personified.

Ken Gargett - Winepilot

Bordeaux barriques are used for the maturation of this fine, warm climate Cabernet from the Barossa Valley. Under cork, just 1,650 bottles were made. The colour here was an opaque maroon purple. Good use of oak and the integration is impressive. The nose offers notes of raspberries, mulberries, cassis, black fruits, aniseed, cedar, tobacco leaves and axle grease (in the most positive sense). This is generous, exquisitely crafted, offers a fine line of bright acidity which runs the full journey, well balanced and of very good length. Still very fresh, this will provide pleasure for many years, at least fifteen to twenty.

Dave Brookes - Halliday Wine Companion

I was really impressed with Kaesler's Age of Light release from the stellar 2021 vintage and the 2022 release certainly seems to be a worthy follow-up. There's some impressive delineation to the aromas and flavours here with bright dark cherry, blackberry and forest fruit tones cut with fine spice, meadow flowers, dried herbs, violets and earth. Tight, fine tannins and a bright, appealing energy, there's nothing heavy or cumbersome here with a nice sense of crunch and vitality to its form.
