Shiraz fermented largely as whole berries with the inclusion of 1% fiano skins for ‘aromatic lift’; 12 months in old oak. It’s hard to know how much impact those fiano skins have made, but the nose has lift and cool refinement, which squares with the back label that asserts this shows the ‘lighter side’ of the region. The fruit notes are still dark with equally dark spice notes, but there’s no heaviness here, on nose or palate, with a grippy, grapey play to the tannins and a mid-weight feel and fresh finish.
