Bordeaux at a great price
"Nice touch in the wooden case, well balanced and drinking well now. Will certainly age well. Not as fruit forward as Australian Cabernet blends but veery good at discounted price of $39 a bottle"
Here’s Bordeaux done properly – structured, age-worthy, and full of old-world savoury charm.
And here’s the clincher: order a 6-pack and we’ll send it to you in a handsome French timber case. The kind you’d expect to see stacked in the cellars of Bordeaux. A proper claret deserves a proper home.
This Gold Medal-winning red comes from Château Troupian, a rising estate just west of Saint-Estèphe. Crafted by superstar consultant Michel Rolland – a man with more 100-point scores than most châteaux dream of – it’s already turning heads, with gold medals and praise from Wine Enthusiast in the USA.
The 2022 vintage is classic Left Bank with a twist: Merlot takes the lead, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and a dash of Petit Verdot. The warm year gives it plush fruit and ripe tannins, so you can enjoy it young, or lay it down with confidence. Think ripe black cherry, Illawarra plum, graphite, clove, cedar – and that’s before the first sip.
On the palate, layers of plum, cherry and mocha flow into notes of violets, leather, forest floor and tobacco. Supple tannins keep everything in balance. It’s harmonious, complete, and a reminder of why Bordeaux is built to last.
Awarded Gold at the Concours de Bordeaux, this is the kind of wine collectors squirrel away – especially when it arrives in a timber case.
