Estate fruit fermented in foudres and matured in a combination of French puncheons and barriques (25% new) for 11 months. A medium ruby crimson. Redolent of wild strawberries, subtle floral notes and Asian spices. It's all there on the palate, too, with excellent depth and persistence and sinewy, gently chewy tannins that will reward with cellar time over the next decade or so.

This 2021 vintage was made by Clare Halloran and Adam McCallum. There’s recently been a change of winemaker – to Sarah Fagan – but Clare is/was obviously the long-term TarraWarra winemaker and she always did a terrific job with the resources she had to hand. This is a firm, solid Pinot Noir. It’s tight with tannin and powerful of fruit. It tastes of macerated red cherries, general spice, specific cloves and poached strawberries. It’s well perfumed on the nose but the palate, which is flavoursome, is locked firm. What this wine really needs is a long cellar stint.
