This hedonistic expression sits in that sweet zone, nigh on the envelope being pushed too far, while straddling a point of composure and poise. A warm, concentrated vintage, manifest as heady aromas of violet, boysenberry pie, cocoa nib, olive and creamy barrel work. Sexy stuff, built for the hedonist. This said, this classy, full-weighted wine is firmly stamped with a sense of place.

One of the icon wines of the 1847 stable. A first-pick, barrel-selection wine that sports a 'classic' Barossa palate shape and feel with deep, black-fruited concentration, layers of spice, licorice, espresso, ironstone, dark chocolate, olive tapenade and turned earth. Dense with an 'old school' feel, chewy, grainy tannin support and a broody sense of compression on the finish.
