Tasting Notes

Deep purple-black in colour, this is immediately striking for its purity, depth and detail. The nose opens with ripe blackcurrant, redcurrant jelly, blackberry and kirsch, before unfolding into more savoury layers of cedar, graphite, black pepper, tar, mint, dark chocolate, cardamom, clove, violets and black truffle. The palate is medium-bodied, tightly wound and beautifully structured, with velvety black fruit wrapped around a rock-solid frame of fine-grained tannins. There is excellent freshness throughout, with a mineral and slightly saline edge cutting through the richness and carrying the wine to a long, powerful finish. Complete, composed and built for the long haul, this has a great future ahead and sits among the standout wines of the vintage.
