The 2019 Love Over Gold Shiraz is big and intense, with a dense framework of tannin wrapped around a core of sweet fruit. Nothing about this wine speaks of space or capaciousness, but the compact, compressed nature of the wine is also true to the place and the vintage that it came from. The acidity is quite fresh through the finish, which I find a little out of step now, but it will no doubt hold the wine in very good stead going forward. This is a huge wine, but it is detailed and long for the scale of the flavors. Impressive. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under Diam and cork.

The 2019 single vineyard Love Over Gold Shiraz speaks of place with its beautifully layered Eden Valley style, with smoked meat, blackberry, chocolate and wood smoke wrapped up in quality French oak. It is a sophisticated and wildly complex wine with choc-berry solid accents and fleshy textures, thanks to the vintage's impressive generosity and length in an approachable package.

From 91 year old vines. Raised in two year old French puncheons. The 2018 was a beautiful wine, and I guess that came from a prettier sort of vintage than 2019. Blackberry, blackcurrant, a mint and sage perfume, baking spices, and a little truffle-like earthiness. It’s medium to full-bodied, a sweet and earthy uptake of concentrated black fruit, tannin is thick and sooty, but slightly drying, and there’s some black tea and black olive in the mix too, with a finish of weight and depth. It’s maybe a bit squishy and malty, but has plenty of Eden Shiraz character.
