The flagship wine from Grant Burge has an enviable reputation when it comes to cellaring ability and its classic Barossan lines. All the hallmarks are there. Fruit density, purity and depth coupled with a commanding tannin structure, fine acidity and an array of baking spices, earth, pressed flowers and roasting meat tones. Finishes balanced, powerful and regionally true with rich black fruits and cedary oak. One of the region's famous labels in fine form indeed.

Deep crimson. Classic blackberry, dark chocolate aromas with hints of liquorice/ herb garden. Generously proportioned with dense blackberry, black cherry flavours, plentiful ripe chocolaty tannins, very good mid-palate density and underlying mocha, roasted chestnut notes. Finishes gravelly firm with inky, chinotto, mineral notes. Very well balanced wine with the richness, concentration and power for long term aging. Best to cellar for some years although drinking well already

Smooth operator. Big and rich, bold and fluid, dark fruited, lavished with cola, woody spice, vanilla, coconut and pencil shavings, all of which seem well meshed into the flow of opulent, stewed and dark fruit juiciness. A heady, potent red wine with power and somewhat grace. Sticks to the palate, stains it emphatically, finishes very spicy and dry. You can see the quality of winemaking here, and the potency of fruit. It’s well done in its way.

Huon Hooke - The Real Review

Deep, dense, glass staining purple-red colour; mocha, aniseed and licorice aromas overlying blackberry and hints of char oak. The wine is dense, rich and thickly textured; full-bodied and fleshy, with chunky slightly oaky tannins and long lasting persistence. A worthy keeper.
