Very ripe, very intense nose with intense plum, cassis and blueberry. It’s very rounded, fresh and juicy - well-structured too and very impressive for the vintage. One third Mourvèdre in 2018.

Josh Raynolds - Vinous

Dark magenta. Smoke-accented black raspberry, cherry-cola and botanical herb aromas are complicated by a spicy white pepper nuance that builds steadily with air. It's chewy and focused on the palate, offering sappy cherry, cassis, licorice, olive and bitter chocolate flavors. There's an energizing jolt of minerality. Finishes long and spicy, with harmonious tannins and a lingering cherry preserve note.

I was told the sample of the 2018 Gigondas represented about 80% of the final blend, so a lot could still change from here to bottling. That said, what I tasted showed intricate notes of garrigue, raspberries and pomegranate, much like previous vintages. Full-bodied and plush, with a long, silky finish, it should be another winner.
