The elegant, mid-weight palate displays lovely plum and dark cherry fruits with spicy vanilla notes from time in French oak. The structure is powerful but elegant with fine velvety tannins and a long finish.

James Halliday - Halliday Wine Companion
Vines planted in 1893; the length and focus of the wine in the mouth speaks eloquently of very old vines. The structure and texture, coupled with the dark fruits, are the key to the wine's quality, though not making oak and tannins irrelevant. Coonawarra at its best.

2019 - Decanter World Wine Awards
Blackberry aromas with earth and mineral notes with dusty, savoury flavours of anise and dried herbs on the palate. Award: Silver - DWWA 2019

Huon Hooke - The Real Review
Deep colour which has lost all of its youthful purples and is now brick-red; the bouquet echoing this state of development with baked-earth, pencil-shavings aromas and a hint of the roasting pan and dried meats. The wine is full-bodied but mellowing nicely, the tannins ample but supple, the flavours passing into the savoury, tertiary stage. There's attractive complexity here, albeit the wine is more forward than expected at six years. (from vines over 120 years old)
