A garnet red with a crimson tint, the wine has a refined and delicate nose, revealing liquorice and peppery notes which contribute to an overall harmony dominated by elegant black berry fruit. An ample and dense attack underpinned by a beautiful freshness paves the way for a full-bodied mid-palate which opens on succulent cocoa bean and black olive flavours, while a refined tannic structure highlights attractive spice notes, leading into a long and balanced finish with some chocolate notes.

Good rainfall in winter helped to reconstitute water reserves in the soil. After a cold February, when average temperatures were 1.5° C lower than in a normal year, March was mild.
Budbreak began on 28 March with the Syrah and ended with the Cabernet Sauvignon on 10 April, normal dates for the estate.
April and May were warm, with average temperatures 1° C higher than normal. April was wet but May was dry, with only 12 mm of rain. These conditions caused flowering to take place early, between 26 May and 7 June. June and July were hot (average temperatures were 1.5° C higher than normal), with the usual amount of rainfall. The grapes started to change colour early, beginning on 22 July with the Merlot and ending on 14 August with the Cabernet Franc, ten days before the average veraison date. Conditions in August and early September allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and in excellent health. The harvest took place in very good conditions, ending 14 days earlier than in an average year.
