"Elegant and ready to drink"
A back-vintage 2012 Coonawarra Cabernet, from a vintage many still call the best of the decade, made by one of South Australia’s most respected estates. Getting access to a parcel like this doesn’t happen often, and when it finally landed on our radar, Mark Pollard (our Head Wine Buyer) moved heaven and earth to bring it in.
You should hear the negotiation story… he swears it aged him three years.
The wine takes its name from the ridges that are carpeted purple each spring, where the blossoms fall gently from the gorgeous flowering trees that line it.
Twelve years of careful cellaring have allowed this Cabernet to settle, open up and find its stride, with beautifully softened edges and a richness that feels perfectly matured. It’s now in the perfect drinking window.
Jane Faulkner awarded it 95 points for Halliday, which tells you everything you need to know… but we think this wine feels even better than the numbers tell you.

"This wine’s little brother was the first full-case cellar purchase I ever made, and at the time the price of Big Bro allowed only rare sampling. To have TWC sell me a 14 year old superb vintage at less than the current release price of its lesser sibling is pure magic. And on top of that it is good wine. Bit rough and surprisingly still young yet comes good with breathing, giving the depth promised by its status."
"This certainly was an enjoyable Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon wine. It exhibited all the typical characteristics you would expect from an excellent Cabernet Sauvignon vintage."
"Truth be told, I haven't tasted this yet but it is a well known cracking brand. 5 stars on procurement and I'm certain it will be good."
"13 year old wine; beautiful and smooth; great drinking now, but will continue to shine."
"After spending all day in the back of an Aust Post van on a stinking hot Sydney day the wine was hot when finally delivered. I suspect that it was heat affected when tasted a week later and while still relatively good from the cellar it could have been better."
"Very smooth. Enjoyed with schnapper."
