Josephine Perry is one of the most exciting emerging producers in Margaret River. Her Dormilona label is setting a new tone for the region and her brand 'Yokel' is representative of the country bumpkin coming to the big smoke to get up to some mischief. The artwork is set in the 1920's as this is the era that the vines were planted for thse wines. As each vintage changes so does the dose of Yokel.
The mascot of Yokel is the beloved Western Swamp Tortoise whom is native to Swan River. They are also the most critically endangered reptile in Australia. With every bottle sold a portion of sales is donated to help the restoration of land, the breeding program at the Perth Zoo & recently have helped with relocation.
A self-confessed 'lazy-bones' winemaker, Jo is low-intervention in the winery, instead focusing her energies on the quality of fruit that she brings in the winery.
She uses only organically and bio-dynamically farmed fruit from high-quality vineyards across Margaret River and the Swan Valley and is bringing an alt-styling to the hero varieties of the west.
These are natural wines with flair and originality. From vineyard to glass, Jo handcrafts each wine with love and tender hands. An authentic producer who's rightfully gaining plenty of attention.
