Wild Oats is part of the Robert Oatley Vineyards portfolio. It is named after Robert Oatley’s world famous Sydney to Hobart winning supermaxi yacht that has won the race 4 times. The nautical theme is continued on the label that depicts the outline of an ocean racing yacht. It was established by the Oatley family in 2006 after they had sold the infamous Southcorp Wines to Fosters. With the proceeds, they ended up buying back their own vineyards in Mudgee, New South Wales, along with the Montrose winery.
The Wines
Made by winemaker James Manners, the wines are crafted from a wide array of grape varietals, such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, from various regions in Australia. The wine styles are fruit-driven and juicy at value for money prices.
