Collection: Pirathon

'Pirathon' is an ancient word meaning pinnacle, peak, summit etc. It was chosen to represent this Shiraz-focused brand, because Shiraz is surely the pinnacle grape of the Barossa region.

Pirathon was established by the Kalleske family, with Troy Kalleske heading up the winemaking duties until 2017. Under his guidance, the label flourished, becoming well-known for the quality of the wines, and the value they represented.

Today, this tradition of quality and value continues under young gun winemaker, Adam Clay. Adam and his team source grapes from several vineyards in North-Western Barossa, including the sub-regions of Greenock, Moppa, Ebenezer, and others. The various different micro-climates and terroir of these sub-regions give Adam the opportunity to craft wines that express the unique qualities of the region and variety.

The grapes for Pirathon Shiraz are traditionally handcrafted in open top fermenters and basketpressed before maturing in barrel. Each vineyard adds its own exclusive dimension to Pirathon Shiraz and combined they produce the ultimate blend.
