Château de Carlmagnus is located in the heart of the Fronsac appellation, on the Right Bank. Its name is a tribute to Charlemagne, the emperor who stayed in Fronsac.
The Château de Carlmagnus vineyard is located on the plateau overlooking the town of Fronsac and covers an area of 16 hectares. Its clayey-calcareous soil is planted 100% with Merlot vines, 25 years old on average.
The estate produces its wines in the traditional way: after manual harvesting, the grapes are vinified in small wooden vats with a parcel-based approach. The juices are then matured in oak barrels (up to 100% new barrels depending on the vintage).
