High-toned raspberry and red cherry fruits layered with exotic spice, pomegranate, purple florals, leaf litter, dried beef, meadow flowers and herbs. Pure red and dark berry fruits on the palate, nicely weighted and showing impressive detail, fruit flow and balance. Powdered, schisty tannins suffuse through the wine and a bright mineral cadence lends focus and drive to the finish.

The 2023 Bendigo Pinot Noir (single vineyard) is so fine and cherry-laden, fresh, detailed and gorgeous. The smashed tannins in the mouth feel everywhere and nowhere at once, with dried rose petals, exotic spices and a cavalcade of fruit. It's ripe, supple, balanced, minerally and with energy—excellent.

Quartz Reef is home to the first commercial vines on the original Bendigo Station, planted between 1998 and 2003. The Estate Pinot is drawn from fruit across the biodynamically farmed vineyard’s north-facing slopes. A wine of quiet confidence and savoury refinement, it has a fragrant nose of black cherry, wild raspberry and waxy rosehip, with hints of Campari spices, dried herbs and earth. Quite tight and shy at present but with plenty to dig into, with good fruit concentration and mineral precision. A very complete and assured style, with firm, well-handled tannins and oak adding structure. A long, dry and savoury finish.
