Product Highlights
This Grenache comes from vines planted in 1939, among the oldest and most treasured in Blewitt Springs. The fine Maslin sands and ironstone pebbles beneath them, cooled by sea breezes from the south-west, give the fruit real perfume and structure. It's a rare link to Australia's viticultural history, and every bottle carries that legacy.
MMAD Vineyard is the work of four of Australia's most respected wine minds: winemakers Martin Shaw and Adam Wadewitz, and Masters of Wine Michael Hill-Smith and David LeMire. Since taking over the vineyard in 2021, their goal has been simple: let these old vines speak for themselves.
In the glass, expect fresh cherries and florals on the nose, with complex red fruit flavours and fine mineral tannins adding structure and depth on the palate. It's a Grenache built for both immediate enjoyment and the cellar, with the concentration to develop beautifully over the next 15 years.
The wine is hand-picked and fermented in separate parcels across large-format French oak and Italian concrete tulips, then given extended time on skins before a gentle basket press into old puncheons and demi-muids. Bottled unfiltered, it's harder to get a more truer expression of the Blewitt Springs.
The results speak for themselves. This wine took home the Best Australian Grenache Trophy at the International Wine Challenge, alongside 98 points from Winepilot ("seduction in a glass") and 97 points from Halliday Wine Companion.
