Panos Kakaviatos - Decanter

Tasted just after the Gazin, this lacks the density of the former, but still conveys bright fruit notes such as forest strawberry and juicy plum. Initially taut tannins yield to a medium-bodied palate, followed by a long finish. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, aged in 50% new oak.

The chocolate and dark fruit character is really seductive in this young Pomerol. Full body, round and juicy tannins and a rich, flavorful finish. Needs a year or two to come around but gorgeous to drink already.

Mulled plum and blackberry fruit is married with melted licorice and warm fruitcake flavors, while cinnamon and raisin hints flash on the finish. Concentrated, but with slightly firm woodsy and plum skin threads tamping down the finish a bit, a mark of the vintage in Pomerol.
