Tasting Notes

The volume of fruit here is excellent, as is the smoothness of the texture, as is the fine grain of the tannin. Every nuance here has been beautifully ordered, delivered and arranged. It tastes of rich plum, sweet blackberry, hay, cedarwood and choc-orange, the latter infused deliciously throughout. This wine is as substantial as it is delicious

Product Highlights

The wildly talented genius behind this extraordinary Mystery Barossa Valley Shiraz is the legendary founder of Torbreck.

Far and wide, the man is recognised as a force of nature thanks to his larger-than-life, uncompromising personality. Core attributes that, it could be noted, are in glorious abundance in his internationally acclaimed, old-vine Barossa red wines.

Indeed, his swag of perfect and near-perfect critical scores led to his winery at the time being anointed one of the Top 100 Wine Estates in the World.

That last bit again: one of the Top 100 Wine Estates in the World.

Drop the mic. Nothing more to say. Except this... he’s a legend. And this is what he does.

Finding, nurturing and mastering old-vine vineyards. Letting exceptional fruit speak. With character and with power.

And this Shiraz has both in spades. Single-vineyard, gnarly 30-year-old vines grown in the dress circle of Marananga, from original cuttings from the historic Kraehe vineyard.

Depth, character, power and... soul. Look forward to plush dark plum and sweet blackberry fruit. Hints of chocolate and liquorice. Then dried herbs, black pepper and clove. Aged for 18 months in seasoned oak. Not leading, just part of such a beautiful dance.

Wave after wave of flavour. Perfect pedigree, perfect provenance. Dare we say perfect Barossa Shiraz?

At this price, you better believe it.
